As we head towards the last weekend before Christmas, we wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of our members and other stakeholders for the support, involvement and encouragement that you have given Carpet Recycling UK this year. Our team, Board and members have been super-busy developing ideas and delivering on promises made at our conference in July. Our EPR and Takeback Working Groups have analysed and responded to Defra on EPR policy documents that could affect the flooring sector and we have issued a survey to gather data on existing member takeback schemes. Our Governance Working Group is preparing the ground for revised Articles and Membership Criteria and our Sustainability Working Group is energetically working on the development of a new Sustainability Pledge which will be part of our re-brand to UK Sustainable Flooring Association in early 2025.  We know that data is king, and we continue to work on gathering and interpreting data and have identified and procured a new resource to support this work next year.

We have also settled on a date and venue for our next conference which will be held on the 18th and 19th of June at Cranage Hall – just off the M6 and close to Manchester. We are particularly excited about this event as we will officially be launching our new name and brand. Tickets will be on sale in the New Year and we already have our first speaker-no sneaky peaks now! It’s going to be a great event and we do hope you will join us.

The CRUK team have held many meetings with a wide variety of stakeholders from other trade associations working in this space, universities, inventors, new potential members as well to Defra and the DBT. We’ve also enjoyed catching up with as many members as possible and we have been so pleased to receive such positive feeback and support.

The success of any membership organisation comes down to the commitment and involvement of its members. So – once again, thank you to everyone who has helped us make such great progress this year and we look forward to working with you all again in 2025.

We do hope everyone has a very happy festive season – and just be careful with those mince pies!
