The informative annual Guide to Sustainability for 2021-2022 from the Contract Flooring Association (CFA) has been published and despite the pandemic and related delays, it is packed with updates and offers from flooring manufacturers on the products and systems they are developing with sustainability in mind.
You can download and read the full Sustainability Guide here which includes content and updates from Carpet Recycling UK and many of its members.
In an opinion piece within the Guide, Richard Catt, CEO of CFA encourages (if not challenges) the contract flooring sector to use the CFA’s recently published Zero Avoidable Waste in Flooring scoping study to drive some of the issues identified. You can read his full comments on page 4 and the study which was written with the support of Carpet Recycling UK, is available to download here

Carpet Recycling UK is looking forward to taking part in the first CFJ Online Flooring EXPO on 1st July 2021 as an exhibitor and on the panel for sustainability alongside key participants.
Carpet Recycling UK will address delegates on its positioning when it comes to the importance of policy, design for recycling, and developing outlets for commercial carpet waste. We will introduce our new best practice guide which demonstrates practical points for handling commercial carpet waste for reuse and recycling.
Both CFA and CRUK members will demonstrate how recycling is helping them on a practical level to save money on waste costs and raise their green credentials, as well as win new business. Speakers confirmed at the point of writing this copy include:
- James Bagdadi of Tarkett DESSO on their nationwide ReStart programme for carpet tiles,
- David Heafey of Saint Flooring on take back and segregation of fitting offcuts for recycling, and
- Ellen Petts of Greenstream Flooring on take back and refit of commercial carpet tiles.
Carpet Recycling UK has long been an associate member of Contract Flooring Association and has many flooring contractors within its membership. We are keen to explore ways of working with you to identify your waste streams and how we can divert even more carpet waste from landfill.
