I’m delighted the team has received this recognition for their innovation and creativity in solving what is an increasingly high profile issue, and one that will affect consumers moving forward. We’re excited to progress our circular initiatives in building a solution for takeback & recycling of cotton-rich home & fashion garments.“

Andy Murphy, Managing Director presents Relay’s journey to the Circular Economy at Carpet Recycling UK’s 2022 conference in Solihull.
Relay is a rug brand offering great value, sustainably focused rugs with extra feel-good factor. Driven to become the leading British brand for environmentally friendly flooring, the range includes rugs and flooring made from recycled and recyclable yarns, natural fibres and excess material that would otherwise go into waste or landfill.
A consumer takeback scheme is currently being piloted for end of use rugs and cotton-rich fashion garments. Relay combines excellent eco-credentials without charging a premium price, ensuring that the range is accessible to everyone. The brand is a subsidiary of Melrose Interiors Ltd, based in Bradford.
Andy Murphy, Managing Director, has spent his working life in the flooring industry: “We are a company that seamlessly blends traditional textile skills with the latest manufacturing technology, underpinned by leading edge IT solutions. We are constantly looking at new markets, processes and solutions, but none of this would be possible without our people. We are extremely proud of our staff who embody our core values and determination to delight our customers.
I’m over the moon the team has received this recognition for their innovation and creativity in solving what is an increasingly high profile issue, and one that will affect consumers moving forward. We’re excited to progress our circular initiatives in building a solution for takeback and recycling of surplus textile flooring and cotton rich home and fashion garments.
He added “Thanks to the Carpet Recycling UK team Adnan Zeb-Khan, Marie Rhodes, Andy Hall, Robert Barker and Mike Dobson for the opportunity to present our journey within the circular economy so far and an inspiring and informative conference.”
Adnan Zeb-Khan, Manager at Carpet Recycling UK commented “We are delighted to present these awards to you Andy. When judging we noted that your recycling program diverts 0.5million sqm of carpet surplus from landfill per year, and we want to reward this and encourage growth in this area. Recovering pre-consumer carpet from production over-makes, roll ends and fitters’ off-cuts which would otherwise end up in landfill is valuable to our sector. Thank you for the efforts of your team!
Melrose Interiors Ltd has been trading for over 50 years. It now services some of the largest on-line and high street retail chains in the UK. www.relayrugs.co.uk www.melroseinteriors.co.uk
