Reuse specialist Envirocycle London reported a busy 2018 diverting over 170,000 carpet tiles from general waste streams into reuse outlets, which was a
significant uplift on the previous year’s figures.
Carpet Recycling UK presented Tony Spreckley with the Best Newcomer of the Year member award at the 2018 conference to recognise the service Envirocycle provides for demolition and refurbishment companies with the reuse of arising construction waste. The company provides affordable flooring to a great number of commercial and domestic consumers as well as supporting non-profit organizations.
This year one project saw it divert over 12,000 tiles to a repeat customer at London School of Science and Technology (LSST) for their new campus at Lancaster House in London. Reclaiming DESSO and Interface product from the same strip out client at two locations in London, the company was quick to react to the demand from LSST to supply their tiles on a project which had a tight refurbishment program.
In another example, Envirocycle recovered 30,000 carpet tiles from 1 Portsoken Street, London on behalf of Pristine London. This is the largest quantity of tiles from any single site so far.
This year Envirocycle London are also working in partnership with Carpet Recycling London to divert carpet roll, rug and tile waste from landfill by targeting fitters and retailers as well as the general public. Carpet Recycling London provides a unique service with a pay by weight payment option for customers with smaller volumes of carpet waste and in addition to their commercial wait and load services. They also plan to roll out trade waste bins in 2019 exclusively for carpet waste collection.
