Big lift for charity gym thanks to UKSFA members

A community gym dedicated to inclusive fitness is set for a major upgrade after two UKSFA members stepped in with an extraordinary show of support.

Old Tyme Strength Gym, a registered charity, reached out to the UKSFA after finding themselves in urgent need of 2,500 m² of clean, thick carpet tiles to replace heavily worn flooring. Thanks to our fantastic members, the response was swift and heart-warming.

The gym provides specialist support for neurodivergent adults, people recovering from injury, veterans and uniformed services personnel, and older athletes. It also hosts national and international weightlifting competitions, offering members who help out the opportunity to feature as sponsors at these events.

UKSFA members, Tarkett, has generously donated 250 m² of new tiles and Milliken has also committed 650 m², with delivery arrangements now underway.

Chris Roberts, owner/manager of Old Tyme Strength Gym, said, “…I honestly can’t thank you (UKSFA and members) enough for what you are doing. It is going to make a world of difference. We’ve had tears on our end already from the help received.”

Work is continuing to coordinate the collection and reuse of the old tiles, and we’ll share further updates as plans progress. A huge thank you to our generous members who have helped a charity in need!

UK Sustainable Flooring Alliance is the only membership association dedicated to helping the UK textile and resilient flooring sector become more sustainable.
