The British Furniture Confederation (BFC) board met in Westminster on 7th February with Mark Eastwood MP, who is Chairman of the Group.  Members of the BFC included representation from the National Bed Federation, FIRA, BFM and Commercial Interiors UK. At present Carpet Recycling UK is the only Trade body representing the flooring industry within the BFC.

During the meeting a number of key issues were raised, including fire safety of furniture and a clear manifesto of the key issues facing the industry, which represents a total market in the UK in the region of £42bn.

Carpet Recycling UK, was able to convey to Mark Eastwood how the withdrawal of RPS 248 in the equine sector has impacted the sector and also stated the need for greater clarity on the future implementation of an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) scheme for the industry. Mr Eastwood agreed to raise these concerns with the appropriate Governmental Departments and colleagues.
