On 19th May, Carpet Recycling UK held a Webinar in a week where we would normally have taken part at the Buying Groups National Flooring Show for retail buying group retailer members, meeting familiar and new faces from retailers and carpet manufacturers.
The Webinar platform enabled 50+ companies including manufacturers, flooring contractors, retailers and recyclers to connect and meet with us, revisit and follow up as well as to start new conversations. We look forward to following up with and working with these companies demonstrating sustainable projects and offerings through our network.
Thank you to our retail buying group members for helping us to promote the Webinar to your retailer members. Click the logos for their links.

The event focussed mainly on updating and helping flooring suppliers, in particular carpet retailers who we would normally meet at the Buying Groups National Flooring Show.
We gave an update on Carpet Recycling UK’s activities, how we can help flooring suppliers and other sectors with a view to segregating for reuse and recycling, compacting and using more textile flooring waste as a resource. We also provided an update to the group on the potential and possible changes to policy and legislation which will have an effect on the industry.
Case studies were shown from buying group members:

For commercial flooring companies we introduced our NEW best practice guide available for download from our website Best_Practice_Guide_A4.pdf (carpetrecyclinguk.com)
An update on the industry’s landfill diversion figures, achievements and focus was given. We reported that approx. 65% of the UK’s textile flooring annual waste (430,000) was diverted from landfill in 2019.
If you are designing for recycling and the circular economy or making cost and resource savings through segregation and recycling, join us and help us to disseminate and grow awareness. We want to inspire others within the sector to take action.
Flooring suppliers, please come forward if you would like to discuss your textile flooring wastes, we are happy to help you to consider relevant and feasible options. If you have high associated costs, then segregation and collections for reuse/recycling could help you to save money.
