Carpet Recycling UK and its members met up at London’s ExCel to talk to delegates about waste reduction and sustainability.

Carina Jandt and Chantal Kerr-Sheppard from Eventcycle kindly extended an invitation to Carpet Recycling UK to work alongside them in the Sustainability Theatre.  Eventcycle exists to help event planners reduce waste and create a positive social impact in the process.  “Events produce waste but what we do with it is one of the most important decisions that’s often overlooked. Don’t just bin it, think about it and look for opportunities to keep the material in use, out of landfill and benefiting as many people as possible. By donating useful materials to charities, community groups and social enterprises you can reduce waste and leave a lasting social legacy, helping the planet and the people on it too.” they said.

It was a positive event with delegates flocking to attend the programme on sustainability and to talk to Eventcycle and its partners.  It was quite an eye opener with speakers and delegates taking advantage of the silent seminar offering.

Marie Rhodes welcomed members MJs Event Services and the Mill International Pte and much learning was achieved in conversations.  Matthew Fong and colleague William Cheng had travelled to Europe on a research exercise in a mission to help the Singapore Events Industry to become more sustainable and were able to learn a lot from fellow member Keith Swain of MJ’s.  Thanks to you all for joining in and for your company too!

Thanks to Eventcycle for the invitation, it was a worthwhile visit to London to help spread he message about sustainability in design, reuse and recycling relating to the events sector.
