A “Bright future” – highlights from a successful AGM
We welcomed members to an exciting AGM packed with new updates and positivity, taking place at the Raddison Blu Hotel at Manchester Airport on 12 March.
It was fantastic to see members come together and reflect on our achievements whilst we map out a promising future. The AGM was a powerful reminder of the strength of our network and the exciting changes that lie ahead.
A transformational year
Chaired by Andy Hall, the AGM showcased the remarkable progress we have made as an organisation. Andy spoke about the impact of our new CEO, Cathie Clarke, who has already made a “phenomenal difference” to CRUK.
Andy said: “Under Cathie’s leadership, we have seen a major boost in activity, projects, and overall structure. Communication with members has improved significantly and will continue to be a key focus moving forward.”
One of the most significant announcements was our agreement to the name change of the organisation to UK Sustainable Flooring Alliance (UKSFA) – which will be officially launched at our annual conference in June.
This is a shift that better reflects our expanded focus on circularity and sustainability, not just within carpet recycling but across the entire flooring sector.
Financial stability and growth
Director, Robert Barker, provided a positive update on our finances, reassuring members we are making smart use of our reserves while maintaining financial stability. Membership fees will not be raised this year, and we have ample funds to continue investing in our organisation’s future. While discussions were had during the AGM about potential funding strategies, the focus remains on strengthening our membership base and ensuring any initiatives align with our Sustainability Pledge and the ever-changing regulatory landscape.
Strategic developments and collaboration
CEO, Cathie Clarke, outlined the organisation’s future direction, including the development of five membership Advisory Groups to ensure strong membership communication and engagement and to drive key initiatives. She also shared the exciting news that Richard Catt will be joining the board as a non-executive director, further strengthening our ability to collaborate across the sector.
Cathie said: “Our Sustainability Pledge remains unwavering. Moving forward, our key goals are to influence, educate, and support the industry alongside launching a new brand identity.”
Members were given an exclusive preview of the new UKSFA branding, and the feedback was positive.
We believe the fresh new look reinforces our commitment to sustainability and inclusivity across the flooring sector. Cathie emphasised that our new identity “…is more than just a visual change – it is a strategic move to position us as the leading authority on flooring sustainability and circularity.”
Looking ahead
As Andy Hall put it so well: “The future is bright. This is your organisation, and with your support, we can shape it into exactly what we want it to be.”
With a reinvigorated structure, strong financial footing, and a clear vision for the next 12 months, we are more excited than ever about what’s ahead.
Thank you to all our members who attended the AGM in Manchester and online.
